Traditional (Oak) Timber Framing
Traditional timber framing is our first love and its where most of our team started out in carpentry.
Often associated with oak, the techniques can be applied to many timbers, though oak is still most commonly used to make the distinctive pegs that hold the joinery together.
Using traditional joinery techniques which have (and will) stand the test of time, we harness the natural properties of timber to create beautiful, strong structures.

Although beautiful to look at, in a well designed frame every single component will have a function, meaning it is so much more than just a decorative feature; it can grant real honesty and authenticity to a space.
There is something fundamentally comforting about being able to see exactly what is holding the roof over your head (or maybe that’s just us).
The imposing heavy section timbers not only look great, but also sequester significant amounts of carbon, thus helping to off-set the overall impact of a building.
